Below is an episode of Remnant Forum, from the publishers of the Remnant Newspaper (it is a good paper, by the way Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view. ). This one is long, about half an hour. One thing mentioned in this episode (somewhat unrelated to the main topic) is that Gloria TV was raided by the police. I guess they are based in Austria, and are accused of, of other things, Homophobia and anti-Semitism. I am having trouble finding information on this. If anyone has links, please comment! Gloria TV is still online, so that’s good.
In the Remnant Forum episode, Michael J. Matt and Christopher A. Ferrara discuss the attack of Catholic Answers on “Radical Traditionalism”. I am catching up on the whole dust-up, having first heard about it on a Mic’D Up with Michael Voris (below), with his guest being… Christopher Ferrara. Jumping into a whole new homeschooling year certainly has its (wonderful) challenges. Five of our eight children are now of homeschooling age.
Also linked are the two referenced Catholic Answers episodes – HERE (May 31st) and HERE (August 12). Be sure to listen to them. Get both sides of this story! Both of these are long as well.
For even more context, there are two Vortexes, where Michael Voris pretty much takes the gloves off, and discusses the Catholic Answers vs. Traditionalism row. Both are below:
Note: I have met Tim Staples multiple times, at Catholic conferences in Illinois. I like him. I am not trying, and wouldn’t try, to turn anyone against Catholic Answers or any of the folks there (or Church Militant TV, or the Remnant Newspaper, for that matter). It is just, well, frustrating. Traditional Catholics are treated by many as second-class citizens in the Church.
The Society of Saint Pius X was mentioned in the Catholic Answers shows as well. Of course, they are held out as examples of “Radical Traditionalism”. Which is also frustrating. There is always “a group” inside the Church, where people think they are safe to hate them (yes, hate them). And it is not me who originally stated that. It was Pope Benedict XVI, official note HERE. A relevant part of the note is:
At times one gets the impression that our society needs to have at least one group to which no tolerance may be shown; which one can easily attack and hate. And should someone dare to approach them – in this case the Pope – he too loses any right to tolerance; he too can be treated hatefully, without misgiving or restraint.
I pray that no one try to create a new group (or groups) that one can “show no tolerance”, which “one can easily attack and hate”. But I have seen over the years much hate thrown at the SSPX. One could try to show love for them, pray for them, and hope for a full reconciliation between all parts of the SSPX and the Vatican (note, in the 1st episode by Catholic Answers, Tim Staples called for exactly that). Or one could just hate them. A lot of people prefer the ‘hater’ route, unfortunately.
Finally, since there are people who try to say the SSPX is not Catholic, or is a “Radical Traditionalist” group, I would just like to remind people what Cardinal Raymond Burke said on them, below:
Alright, that’s a long post (with a little bit of a rant in it Image may be NSFW.
